End of Day Reflection 3/21/11

Sometimes I am below expectations because I do not do my blog but today I am meets expectations. I almost finished my skiing project and did my Main Three Branches of Government project.

Today I did achieve my goals. I am almost finished with my skiing project. So far there is nothing I really have to do before Wednesday except interview my experts (Matt, Gaby, and Joanna). I have given them a brief outline of what I am going to ask them so they can be prepared. My next steps are to interview my experts and send them my project so I can get feedback and finish. I am very confident in myself with this project and I hope it turns out good.

Daily Goals 3/21/11

Today I am going to be working on my project. My plan is to try to stay as much focused as possible.

Daily Reflection 1/21/11

My week of abundance...
This week I did complete my goals. I did 2 of my benchmarks and Randy and Amy checked it and I PASSED. I feel good about my project. I finished my project planning form.

I did good in PBL and good in FLVS. I finished my spreadsheet and finished Language Arts. I did my practice semester exam and got a 40/50. So fart FLVS has been good for me. Tomorrow I am going to Telluride so it will be a little bit different but it will still work.

Daily Goals - 1/21/11

My daily goals are to finish writing at least 1 1/2 or 2 benchmarks.

My End Of Day Blog 1/19/11

I kind of achieved my goals today. I found information but I have not finished the WHOLE entire thing because it will be a while. I noticed about myself that sometimes I was not paying attention and not writing a lot. The thing that went well was I learned a lot about photosynthesis. The thing I need to change is my Mayan paper. I need to finish it. So far there is nothing I need help on. I finished everything precisely.

Daily Goals - 1/19/11

My goal for today is to gather research for my project planning form.

Daily Goals 1/17/11

I achieved my daily goals. I finished my project planning form and Mrs. Amy checked it. Then I redid it and finished it. My work habits were good but when we were watching the Liberty video I was not focused. To me the video was boring and I could not stay focused.

Things to include in OHpedia entry *
SC.8.L.18.1: Describe and investigate the process of photosynthesis, such as the roles of light, carbon dioxide, water and chlorophyll; production of food; release ofoxygen.
SC.8.L.18.2: Describe and investigate how cellular respiration breaks down food to provide energy and releases carbon dioxide.
SC.8.L.18.3: Construct a scientific model of the carbon cycle to show how matter and energy are continuously transferred within and between organisms and theirphysical environment.
SC.8.L.18.4: Cite evidence that living systems follow the Laws of Conservation of Mass and Energy.

Daily Goals

My daily goals are to finish my project planning form and get it checked my Mr. Randy and Mrs. Amy.

Work Habits

My work habits last week were good. I was focused but sometimes I got off track and did not remember what to do. I kept thinking I really need to get FLVS done so I was not as focused in PBL. There were sometimes where I knew what to do and was very focused. After that I started to forget some things. To retain the momentum I am going to focus on just what my goal is so I can get it done. It might be difficult at times but I am going to try my best.

Big Idea #18

A. Living things all share basic needs for life.

B. Living organisms acquire the energy they need for life processes through various metabolic pathways (photosynthesis and cellular respiration).

C. Matter and energy are recycled through cycles such as the carbon cycle.

I think it means:
Plant, animals, people, etc. all have to have basic needs to live.
Matter and energy go through certain cycles to be able to recycle.

Reflection 1/12/11

Today I accomplished doing an OHpedia Rubric. We had to see what components make a good online lesson. I said: What makes a great online lesson is:
  • Interactive videos or games
  • Pictures to help you understand
  • A lot of colors not just one singular color
  • Things to practice on before you do the test/assignment
  • Good graphics
  • Online Flashcards
I would like to see:
  • Music
  • Online notebook (so you can keep all your things on there not in a notebook that you have to carry everywhere).
Also what we did was we defined metacognition. I said To be metacognative means to be confident that you can learn and take time to think about your own thinking.

After todays work I am feeling metacognative. I am very confident that I learned a lot.
My next steps are to meet with Mrs. Amy about my project planning form.
After today I have no question or issues.

Metacognition

Metacognition is awareness and understanding one's thinking and cognitive processes; thinking about thinking
To be metacognative means to be confident that you can learn and take time to think about your own thinking.

OHpedia Rubric Creation

To make this what I did was coding. Coding is when you find the pattern in the Google doc, Wikipedia, etc. You find the common words and put them into group/lists. You bold the main idea and you do not bold the ideas inside of that.

  • Photographs

  • Music
  • Games
  • Filmography
  • Polls

  • Bold Titles
  • Introduction Paragraph
  • Colorful Words
  • End Summary

Explosion Project

I did a wiki on explosions with some middle school students. In my explosion project, the 3 main things I will remember the most are... I will always remember about the Tsar Bomba, before I presented, and presenting. The reason why they were the most memorable things was because they were the most fun to do and the experience was great!

When I chose the question what is the biggest explosion, I thought that it was an small and easy question. I learned about the Tsar Bomba and then knew that it was more of a medium type of question. It was very memorable to me because, I liked the experience and it was a fun topic. I had to look on many sites to be able to find the information I needed and then I finally found it.

Another memorable thing to me was before I presented. I was very nervous that I would mess up or forget what to say. It was not as nervous as when I presented my first project but I was still pretty nervous. It was memorable because, I was really nervous and asked Mr. Randy many questions. Then once I presented I was fine and had a great experience.

The last thing that was most memorable to me was presenting. It was a great experience I was really scared at first but then once I started it was fun and great. I did not talk a lot but I did give good information. It was very memorable to me because it was one of my favorite projects so I studied a lot and gave it my best effort. It was really great and I had the best experience ever.

Those were my most memorable things about my explosion project.I went over the Tsar Bomba, before I presented, and when I presented. I will always have memories for that project. This was the most fun project I have done. Overall it was a fun topic to learn. It was very memorable and joyful.
